There’s something special about watching military jets at airshows. The powerful rumble of jet engines flying low above your head, the sheer speed, the skill of pilots flying in graceful formation one minute and doing body-crushing aerobatics the next. It was all present on Saturday during Fleet Week in San Francisco. Sitting atop the Pier 39 garage with my Nikon Df and 70-300mm lens, shutter set at 1/1000 sec., I captured the action and enjoyed a perfect day on The Bay.

On Monday night we drove high up into the hills of Los Altos to catch a glimpse of 2013’s Perseid meteor shower. The view of the South Bay was spectacular on an unusually warm August night. Although I captured the view, the Perseids chose not to shower on us that night 😦
After shooting 135 25-second exposures, this single lonely streak in the sky was all I got. Better luck next year. It was still fun!
